Best Ways to Ring in the New Year

Happy New Year! 2010 is on its way! How are you planning on ringing in the new year? Here are some fun, quick and inexpensive ways to throw together a last minute get together with friends.

Party hats and party favors made from leftover Christmas wrap or fun patterned paper from around the house. I always feel silly wearing party hats...but you can't wear them at just any party.

Set the punch off with a tray lined in metallic paper and illuminating votives.

Make a pretty cascade of glimmering paper by stringing circles of leftover Christmas wrap.

Who wants cake when you place party favors on the cake stand instead? I'll take the cake over the favors, but this still looks pretty!

As for food, try doing easy traditional basics but in a mini version. Why is food more fun to eat when it's mini (maybe because you can fool yourself into thinking that you're eating less)? Some of my favorites: mini sliders, a bite of caesar salad on individual forks, mini caprese salad skewers, mini taco cups, mac & cheese bites, mini cupcakes...the list goes on...

One of my favorite things to do on New Year's Eve is play card games with my close friends (yes, I'm an old soul at heart). Needless to say, it's so fun. It breaks the ice with new friends; and it quenches my thirst for friendly competition!

A jar of blake eyed peas is a cute and inexpensive party favor for friends to take home for 'good luck' throughout the new year!

Another great party favor is an individually wrapped cookie for a late night new year's snack.

Have a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration & a very joyful 2010!
