Spring has sprung (well, at least at my house). With such a cold and gray winter, I've been ready for the colors of spring for quite awhile. My house has been asking me for color, and I've finally come out of hibernation to decorate it!
Here are some simple ways that I've added living color to my house (quick shots via iphone). I wanted to bring the colors of spring into my kitchen, dining and living room through purple, yellows, fresh greens and sky blues.
Here's a display on my kitchen counter. I pulled together fresh purple flowers, greenery and a concrete white washed bird candle to bring in a pop of color and freshness to the kitchen.
My mason jars are ready for some fresh pulled herbs. When I don't have any growing in my yard, I'll purchase some of my favorite herbs and put them in some fresh water on my window sill. My favorites are basil, rosemary and chives. They are around $2 each and serve multiple purposes--they smell fantastic, add color and decoration and add wonderful flavors to your cooking. Plus, I love how the green pops in these pretty sky blue jars.
Fresh lemons, palm leaves and a large glass votive vase make a fun and bold center piece.I found an old indigo blue painted board laying around my house, and I thought that it would make a great cookbook shelf. By displaying my cookbooks, I'm adding color and inspiring (hopefully) myself to cook this spring.
Not a whole lot of color, but I love bringing sand back from my beach vacations and saving it to decorate with in the spring and summer. This sand is from my husband and mine last trip to Seaside, Florida.
